Give Us A Life mp3

Here's a song for the past and a future at last
The millennium buried deep
In an unquiet grave with the poor and enslaved
By a warming and rising sea - and our last chance to be.

Oil slicks on the seas as the big companies
Lay waste to the air we breathe
And little children lie dying, from U.N. sanctions deprived
Of food and medicine that they need - it should shame you and me.

All those billions a year spent on military gear
With the half of the world to feed
While the rich hoard the spoils as the poor nations toil
To pay interest on debt and greed - it's a cruel irony.

But I know we can fight it if together we stand
From the mire of indifference we must raise our demands
As the voices of billions cry out loudly and clear
'Give us a life worth living'.

Like a runaway train steaming fire through the reign
Of the Moloch of corporate gains
We slice through the land with the devil at hand
Gladly stoking the coal and flames - he turns and laughs in your face.

They rob the sick and the poor to bring more wealth to the door
Of the oil and arms industries
While politicians spread lies and assassinate from the skies
In the name of democracy - they try to fool you and me.

Yeah, I know we can fight it, and together we'll stand
From the mire of indifference we will raise our demands
As the voices of billions cry like ghosts on the wind
'Give us a life worth living'.
