Casement Rovers
Winners of the under 14 Finglas Roads league, 1964.

I was a keen footballer in my early teens and the local team I played for, Casement Rovers, won the roads league
in 1964. The Rovers were managed by my father Jim who  was also much in demand by the local sports club as an astute  and respected referee. We prevailed over co-finalists Mellows Road 3-1, and the trophy was presented by the local parish priest and wonderful character Father Lynch who did outstanding work in the area. The Rovers were a great bunch of guys, and I say a warm Dublin 'howayeh' to any of them who may find this website. If you are an ex-Rover please drop me
a line
and say hello - I'd be delighted to hear from you provided I don't owe you any money.

(Back row L-R)
Mr. Jim Ward (manager & trainer), Pat Carbury, Gerry Heapes, Jim Carbury, Bert Robinson (goalie), Patrick Cooke, Michael O'Carroll (older brother of the famous Brendan), Tony Boyle, (front row) Gerry Smith, Tom McGee, Ronald O'Sullivan (captain), myself and Dessie Sands, who later managed my first band Crossroads and played with Jimmy Gibson in the brilliant 'Advent' duoLast and arguably least, though he'd never have admitted it, the family dog and team mascot, 'Ruff'.
